FROM THE GUNSMITH’S BENCH
Erik Winter, Gunsmith
TOPIC:
Instructions for installation of the Midwest Industries 4″ Handguard Rail
To install rail, first verify that the rifle is unloaded. Then push the takedown and pivot pins out and remove the upper from the lower receiver. Remove handguards per the instruction on page 23 of your operator’s manual.
With a pair of needle nosed pliers remove the inner heat shield from the handguard.
Place rail in the desired location on the handguard. There are three possible locations you can place it.
Place the rail nuts inside the handguard and tighten the screws into them with the Allen wrench provided with the rail kit. There are two lengths of screws. For our stock M4 handguards you will want to use the short screws. You can also use a little blue Loctite on these screws as well to make sure they don’t back out.
You can replace the inner heat shield if desired or leave it out. It is optional. If you put it back in it may be necessary to stake it into place by the plastic tabs or melt the tabs so it stays in place.
Reinstall handguards on rifle.
This rail is an easy and economical way to allow the mounting of a forward pistol grip, flashlight, bipod mount or any other accessory that will mount to a MIL-STD-1913 rail on your rifle.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CORNER
Cheryl Eliason, Customer Service Manager
We receive a variety of customer service related questions from our customers, and in order to better serve all of you, highlight one question each month.
This month’s question is:
People often ask “What is included with a new Windham Weaponry Rifle?”
Answer:
Standard with every Windham Weaponry Rifle are:
1) A yellow chamber plug/safety tool (shown inserted in the rifle). This acts as a safe chamber indicator, and is also handy as a push pin tool for takedown and pivot pins, and can function as a magazine unloading tool.
2) A 52″ black nylon web sling – 1 ¼” wide with two black phosphate finished steel buckles
3) A high quality Magazine: 30-Rd .223/5.56 mm caliber for states where they are allowed. 10-Rd. for states with that restriction. For our .308 rifles, a 20-Rd Magpul P-Mag is included, except for states that require a 10-Rd. magazine where that is substituted.
4) A comprehensive, full color Operating/Safety Manual. For .308 rifles, a special insert is included outlining the differences between .308 and .223 models.
5) A catalog of Windham Weaponry models, parts and accessories, which includes complete warranty registration information.
6) All this, and the rifle, are packaged in a hard plastic, foam lined, lockable carrying case.
All of these support pieces help you understand why a Windham Weaponry Rifle is the best value on the AR market today.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
Todd J. Coons, VP Law Enforcement Sales
What’s New in LE?
The shows we attended in April were great. The Northeast Fish and Wildlife Conference was very well attended, as was the NRA.
I will be traveling to Mississippi and to Louisiana at the end of May for a couple of LE Demo shoots. I will be in Tupelo MS on May 19th and in Baton Rouge on the 21st. I always get very excited to participate in live-fire law enforcement demos, so the end of the month can’t come fast enough.
I have a few classes coming up as well in the month of June. The first class will be an armorer’s class here at the factory on June 10th/11th. The second class will be on the road in Pennsylvania at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center June 17th/18th. We will be hosting a special seminar called Advanced Firearm Technology, June 16th/17th here at the factory as well. For additional information, or to sign up, please visit my website: https://www.windhamweaponry.com/le/training.asp
From May 15th to June 15th I’m going to be offering the R16M4LHRFMFT (pictured below) at a special pricing for active and retired law enforcement and military, along with a FREE aluminum mag. Please contact me for pricing on the rifle. Tcoons@windhamweaponry.com

Meet the WINDHAM WEAPONRY TEAM
Featured Employee – Percy Dieppa, Information Technology Manager
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Percy has called Maine his home for the past 24 years. He became involved with the firearms industry back in 1998 when he first joined the original Bushmaster Firearms, Inc. About one week after Bushmaster closed, he received a call from Allen Faraday, Executive VP of Operations of Windham Weaponry, and said “Percy, what do you think about Dick’s email”? referring to an email Richard Dyke, CEO of Windham Weaponry had sent the day before where Mr. Dyke was asking some of the old Bushmaster employees if they were interested in joining a new company he was starting. Percy said, “This is crazy, I can’t believe Mr. Dyke is getting back into the game” With that said, Percy said yes. After many months of work to help get the new company started, Percy officially started with Windham Weaponry on February of 2012.
As the Information Technology Manager, he keeps busy managing all our computers, software, website, and security systems among many other things. When not fighting with computers, Percy enjoys spending time with his wife of 20 years, their two daughters, and two cats. He enjoys target practice, fishing on Sebago Lake, and camping. Daughters always keep him busy with dance, soccer, gymnastics, and ice and roller-skating.
